5th Grade Essential Outcomes



By the end of 5th grade, all students will:



· Know all multiplication and division facts

· Read and write decimals using place value from millions to millionths

· Add and subtract whole numbers with regrouping

· Add and subtract numbers with decimals

· Multiply 3 digit whole number by a 3 digit whole number and decimal

· Divide 4 digit dividends with whole numbers and decimals by a 2 digit divisor

· Add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators

· Apply communicative, associative, distributive properties to solve problems and make equivalent numerical expressions

· Use order or operations to solve problems and make equivalent numerical expressions

· Identify types of angles

· Identify 3-dimentional figures

· Identify properties of polygons

· Find perimeter and area of triangles and other polygons

· Find surface area of prisms

· Use formulas to find volume of prisms

· Find mean, median, mode, and range when given a set a numbers
