INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMS

ECFE (Footsteps):
Our ECFE classes are for children from birth to age five. Parents attend these sessions with their children. There are two (mixed age) class time options for the 2023-2024 school year and each meets once per week: Monday Evening 4:00-5:30pm or 5:30-7:00pm, Wednesday Morning open gym from 9:00-9:30 and class time 9:30-11:00am. Parents select one of the 90 minute class time options to enroll in that best fits their family's weekly schedule.
The ECFE class consists of a two part structure. The 90 minute class is structured with the first part as parent/child together time. Parents and children participate in organized activities and an educational circle time. The second part is parent/child separation time. Parents meet with a parent educator to discuss parenting topics, while children enjoy a preschool experience with the child educator and playtime with other children.

Classes are offered throughout the school year, with a payment breakdown of three sessions (fall, winter, and spring). There is no registration fee, however, registering early will give you the best chance at getting in the class time you select. Our registration deadline is June 1, 2023. There are 3 payments of $45 each due at the start of each trimester during the school year. A total of $135 if done as individual payments each trimester, or $125 if paid in full ($10 savings) at the start of the school year. Footsteps also offers a family discount on multiple children enrolled. (3rd child is free!) The enrollment limit for Footsteps is 12 children per class. Note that for Footsteps, the Emergency Contact Form is not needed since parents attend at the same time the students do. All other paperwork should be turned in at the office at the time of registration.

LOOK AT ME I'M 3:
Our program for three-year-old children is called "Look At Me I'm 3!" This program is for children who are at least 3 years old by September 1 of the school year in which they are enrolling. It meets twice per week on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:00 until 11:00 AM. There is no transportation to or from this class and parents are responsible for getting their child to class and picking them up. Your child is officially enrolled once you have received a receipt for the registration payment, the registration payment of $110 is due June 1, 2023, and then there are 9 additional monthly payments of $110 each during the school year. Note that there is a discount for automatic withdrawals each month, and a bigger discount for a full payment. The Payment Schedule for this program will be made available at Conference/assessment days. Enrollment minimums for the Look At Me I'm 3 Classes are 10 children. This means that we open up additional sections of Look at Me I'm 3 Classes at increments of 10 (e.g. 20 students = 2 separate classes).

Please note a clarification on the transportation that is provided for the morning and afternoon classes, as they are a little different: For morning classes, students ride to the Elem on bus routes and then, and then can be transported with a $360/year or $40/month bus fee back home or to daycare after class for in-district locations. For Afternoon Class students, a bus can pick up students from home or daycare for in-district locations with a $360/year or $40/month bus fee, and then students can ride their assigned bus home. Your child is officially enrolled once you have received a receipt for the registration payment, the registration payment ($110 for either class option) is due June 1, 2023. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All of our programs are taught by teachers with 4-year college degrees in education. The preschool teachers have special training in early childhood education and years of experience working with children in this age group.

Childhood experts agree: "Attending a high-quality program prepares kids for kindergarten and beyond. There's increasing evidence that children gain a lot from going to preschool," says Parent Advisor Kathleen McCartney, PhD, Dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "At preschool, they become exposed to numbers, letters, and shapes and, more important, they learn how to socialize -- get along with other children, share, and contribute to circle time."

Children who attend high-quality preschool enter kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in one of our high-quality pre-school programs for the upcoming school year, registration will be open starting March 7th, 2023 by 8AM.  Application process includes the online application forms and some documents that you will have to download and fill out and return to us at the Elementary Office.  Registration is on a first-come basis, with priority given to in-district families.  Registration does fill very fast, so be sure to get all forms and fees in early to ensure placement.  Once classes are full, you may have to be put on a waiting list, or when applicable register for your second or third choice of classes.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dover-Eyota Elementary office (Chelsie Dinges) at 507-545-2632 or 888-273-0189.
