Questions

Why did you become a teacher?

I always wanted to help people succeed. Nothing is better than the feeling you get when a student understands what you are teaching and you know you helped.  I also enjoy encouraging young adults to be better humans, to get better at everything they do each and every day.

Did you like math while you were in high school?

Yes, I was one of the kids that it just came easy to.

What is the hardest thing in math to teach?

In Middle School - fractions

Do you have tricks to help students learn math better?
If so, what are they?

Try to make it fun so the kids don't think they are learning and keep their attention. I have been known to break into song and dance.

What is your greatest/funniest teaching memory ever?

Being able to return and teach at D-E. I hear a lot of kids say they want to get out of here. I said that at one time too! Be proud of where you are from.

What is the best thing about working at Dover-Eyota High School?

Teachers and staff get along so well. I work with my best friends. I think kids see it and it makes for a more welcoming environment.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

Spending time with friends and family or playing sports.

What advice do you have for students about high school or growing up?

The harder you work now the easier college and the work force will be.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

I would take my wife to Greece!
