My name is Mr. Andring.  Native to this area, I was raised on a farm just outside of St. Charles with my five brothers and two sisters.  On the farm I did my share of field work; waking early to perform daily chores and tend to the animals.  I am proud to say that I am a Dover-Eyota graduate.  I attended Winona State University which is where I received my Bachelors Degree in teaching.  I also completed my masters degree through the University of St. Catherines.  It is my 21st year as a teacher.  I taught a year of first grade and a year of second grade at Plainview Public Schools.  I taught first grade for three years here at Dover-Eyota.  I am currently in my sixteenth year of teaching 6th grade.  I am also the head coach for the Dover-Eyota Track and Field team and do a large amount of officiating football, volleyball, and basketball.

I have two lovely kids named Carter and Taylin.  Carter is 21 years old and graduated from D-E in 2020.  Taylin is 17 years old and is in 12th grade in St. Charles.  I am married to my amazing wife Melissa who is  a sixth grade teacher at Fillmore Central.  I have two bonus children Libby and Sophie.  Libby graduated from D-E in 2018 and graduated from Western Technical College in LaCrosse in 2020.   Sophie graduated from here at   D-E in 2022.  As a family we like to stay active and spend as much time outdoors as possible.  I am not the type of person who likes to sit around; I usually find something to keep me busy.  When not teaching, you will often find me helping out my parent's farm.  I often can also be found just horsing around.  I mean literally horsing around supporting my wife or the girls as they show their horses, or simply just playing with one of the many horses/ponies we have on our little hobby farm.  In the summer I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors and active.  I also try to go fishing and hunting any chance I get.

My philosophy in education is that learning should be fun but challenging.  I feel the students should be active learners.  An active learner is someone who participates in class discussions and asks questions as well.  I also believe the students should have hands-on activities to help them learn.  In my class I feel that every student is capable of getting an A.  I do understand that some students may have to work harder at it than others, but they are still capable if they put the time and effort in.  I really enjoy teaching students and I want the students to enjoy learning as well.
