Curriculum, grading, and instruction of each individual child are based upon team decisions made at the students' annual Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting. Students' progress will be evaluated through the student's Individual Education Plan.
General education sets classroom expectations for all learners. Special education supports these expectations with modifications, accommodations, and special instruction for students who qualify for these services.
We encourage all parents to be involved with your child's education. You can support your child at home by conducting some of the following activities at home on a daily basis: Reading--reading to your child and listening to your child read to you. Ask your child to read various items (menus, recipes, names, etc.). Comprehension--ask your child questions about what he/she is reading. Writing and Spelling--let your child write the grocery list, practice weekly spelling words, write letters, and thank you cards. Math--practicing math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), money skills, clock (telling time) and calendar reading, problem solving, measurement, fractions, and basic facts. Communication--talk to your child and listen to what he/she has to tell you. Social Skills--play games, ask your child about his/her day and help them problem solve, demonstrate good manners, and organize play dates with other kids. |
